The Invisible Rope is a timeless prank that gives the illusion that there is a rope when, realistically, there is nothing there. Two or more individuals stand on opposite sides of the street and pretend to pull a rope. Drivers, while approaching, are cautious and are hesitant to pass through. Whether the drivers slow down or come to a complete stop, the prank is effective most of the time. Every now and then, a driver will roll down his or her window and express how he or she feels--sometimes this is in the form of a compliment, while other times it may be the exact opposite. Occasionally, drivers will utilize sign language--usually in the form of a hand gesture we have all come to know and love. The prank was originally intended to be used on cars; however, innovation has allowed The Invisible Rope to be brought off of the streets and into locations such as the shopping mall.
